A Celebration of Poetry "Beyond Words"

-Kevin McMillan Actor/Director

If you haven't heard Tamsin Rothschild's poetry, it could be time! Maybe you say "A poetry show, no way!" but let me tell you folks this is not your grandmother's poetry. Poetry is hot in modern culture these days, and "Beyond Words" is a visit to a sweet realm of live performance you may not have experienced for a while, if ever.

As Tamsin recites her work, Milo Page plays guitar and Ron Beimel plays recorder or sings, with the resulting combination ranging from the stimulating to the sublime. Milo and Ron demonstrate great sensitivity and artistry, and the group harmonizes beautifully together into an amalgam of words and music. I went on opening night and the spirit of creativity was palpable in the theater.

Tamsin's original poetry is rich with timeless spirit and intelligence, and simultaneously peppered with allusions to our modern world, and the humor and challenge it can sometimes provide. Tamsin is beautiful to look at, and the setting is simple and understated. Her presentation style is elegant and intimate, sometimes dramatic, playful and innocent. The show brought to mind for me a salon: an evening of shared ideas and inspirations, comfortably nestled in a dear friends home.

Located in a charming performance space in Beverly Hills, the show runs for 6-weeks, Sunday nights at 7:30. Tickets are very reasonably priced and can be purchased online or at the door. I'll be going back. I suggest you go Sunday night and take a friend. Could be the perfect way to end a weekend. I think you'll be glad you did.
